Our baby girl is turning three. I'm reminiscing about how different life was three years ago...what a crazy, miraculous surprise it was to find out we were expecting...how shocked we were that she was a ten-pound baby girl...and what a wonderful little girl she is. I've been trying to put into words her passion for life, but I just can't get it right. She does nothing halfheartedly, but attacks everything (or rebels against it) with her entire self. If she can focus that trait in a positive direction, I know it will serve her well. She has always been in touch with emotions - both hers and everyone else's - and we see that played out every day.
She asked today to stop sitting in her booster seat with the tray and start sitting in a regular chair. I let her do it if she could stay seated until she asked to be excused, and she did a great job, so I'll be putting the booster away except for guests. We keep meaning to convert her crib into a bed but haven't gotten around to that yet. (Maybe in the next few days?) She says that when she wakes up in the morning and is three, she'll use the potty. Now, that would be thrilling! We'll give potty training our full attention (again) in the next month or so.
Also this week, Grace started to learn to say the "l" sound at the beginning of words. I'm kinda sad to hear "Look, Mommy!" instead of "Wook, Mommy!" She doesn't have it in the middle of words all the time, so she prays, "Now I lay me down to sweep..." After she gets "l," the only sound remaining is "th," which she doesn't have at all yet. She is an amazing conversationalist.
Grace Evelyn, you are an amazing blessing. You are full of life and an undeserved gift from God, just as the meaning of your name implies. We love you tremendously.
