Grace's Artsty Craftsy Birthday Party

We gave Grace a pretty amazing birthday party - at least, I think it was amazing!  She wanted to do crafts at her party, and that's what we did!

Doreen made her amazing cookies.

We kept the cupcakes simple.  Grace's March birthday makes it easy to find cute candies to put on her treats.

Grace wanted to sample a cookie...and there are some other refreshments in the background.

The set-up before the party.  As much as I love rain, I prayed for no rain.  We were thankful for a beautiful and dry day - perfect for her party.

I don't have permission from the girls' parents to post their photos here, so I won't, but I got lots of cute pictures of them crafting and celebrating.  Here are the canvases they painted.  Once the paint dried, we took off the grids of painters' tape, and each girl got to take her masterpiece home.

You can't see in the pictures, but we also played a game with a quiz about how well her friends knew Grace, and we made giant paper clip bookmarks.
Here are some of the girls on a scavenger hunt.  I divided them into teams and sent them to look for clues, but both hunts ended up at this table.

They needed hint to find their prizes under the table.  (See my mom there?  She was a big help during the party!) Each girl got to choose a crafty apron - one of either design below.  They were really fun to make out of bandannas.  Thanks, Pinterest!

She received lots of sweet gifts from her sweet friends.  (There's Jeff in the background.  I was thankful for his help, too!)

Happy birthday, sweet Grace!

She had a wonderful day!  She fell asleep with one of her gifts.

Doreen had come by the day before to deliver the birthday cookies and her gift...
this amazing tent and sleeping bag for Grace's dolls.

Kit gave it her seal of approval.

And her aunts and uncles also send some gifts: this special dress for Kit that she had been hoping for...and this crafty AG kit...

and the treasures you see here.

I think it's safe to say that Grace felt very celebrated when she turned eight!

The Middle of March, and Celebrating Grace

Some mixed-up pics from the middle of March...

We went to the city for the day and celebrated Grace as a family.  We went to the best science museum...

and an amazing candy shop.

and to an art museum where they had some Monets.  We'll see later in the post.

A friend handed down a Lego set to Grace, and Benjamin was excited to give her the surprise.

We had a special beignet breakfast in the city.

On the way home from the city, the kids and I went to the park while Jeff picked up the Craigslist bike.  It rode home in the back of the van under a blanket, and Grace never suspected!

She's under there!

More of the Lego surprise for Grace from Benjamin.

Trying to reach the ceiling...

As promised, pictures of our girl and the Monet.

Both Grace and Benjamin advanced to level 3 in gymnastics.  It was a proud day...and especially nice that they both succeeded on the same day!

She made it to the ceiling!  At little disturbing, but a lot of fun.

Birdie love!

And, proof that we did wear our green on the 17th!

Grace's Birthday

Our girl turned eight!  My mom has made it a tradition to sew matching girl and dolly dresses for her granddaughters on their birthdays.  Here's the picture of Grace's set that she sent to me before the big day.

And here's the amazing bike that Jeff found for her on Craigslist.  The patio was partly decorated for her party already because it just takes me that long to get ready for parties!

We woke her up by singing happy birthday to her, as is our custom, and she enjoyed some gifts at breakfast.

My mom got up really early to drive to our house and share the birthday fun with her.

Super cute, right?

Jonathan was really enjoying learning to play the guitar at school and got to share that with my mom, too.

Grace's bike and dress were both perfect!

She got a special birthday hairdo from Grandma, too.

She asked for birthday dinner at her favorite place...

All in all, it was a great birthday for our sweet girl.
