Each week, I get an email telling me about how the baby is probably developing and what size it is. A week ago, I told Jonathan that the baby was the size of an apple, which he thought was great. He started calling the baby Apple Baby. He said that, when the baby was about to be born, we could call it Watermelon Baby.
Today, at 16 weeks, my email says that the baby is the size of an avocado. I'd rather stick with Apple Baby, but Jonathan says that it's now Avocado Baby.
I have my next appointment on Friday, when I'll hopefully hear the heartbeat again and find out that things are still going OK.

The Fountains
Hope you enjoy the movies I'm posting of the kids at the fountains. They had a great time with Ella and Delia! I'll post pictures of all the kids soon, but thought you'd enjoy the movies for now. They're both short, but I probably won't keep them up for too long, because movies take up a lot of our blog space. Thanks for the super time, Jen, Ella, and Delia!
At the Beach
(These are not vacation pics!)
Jeff had Monday off, so we took advantage of the extra time together and spent the afternoon at the beach. Again, I wasn't prepared for the cold. We had enough clothes along in the car to keep the kids warm, but bought a sweater for me at a thrift shop. The town and beach were really crowded, but still we enjoyed getting away from home and having some family time.
Serious sandcastle builders...
Jonathan mostly wanted to run around and fall down in the sand. He was really anxious to get to the beach.
Grace loved being outside, as always. The old-enough-to-walk-but-not-walking stage is a little awkward. I think she would have loved a good run in the sand. But she stayed pretty happy.
These kids cracked me up. They were both enjoying their game, but I don't envy the task of washing that little boy's hair.
And here's the family shot. The kids had a great time, despite their expressions. Let's consider this my 15-week belly shot. We're really thankful to live close enough to get to the beach easily!

Spam Comments?
I have comment moderation set up on this blog, so you'll never see comments that I don't allow to be here. But, I have been getting a steady stream of "comments" is alphabets I can't read (Chinese, for instance, I think) that are not really comments but attempts to get spam links into the comments. Is anyone else getting these? Is there anything I can do in addition to rejecting them?

More Bend
Here are some more pictures of what we did in Bend. We had the great problem of running out of time to do fun things. We had a great time walking by the river and watching the ducks, swimming, and just hanging out as a family. There are advantages to staying in an actual town with actual things to do. Here are a few of them...
Jeff was really excited about this part. We all went to the factory where his guitar was made. It was more of a big workshop than a factory, because everything there is made by hand. It was really interesting, and the kids tolerated it well. Jeff's guitar even got some individual attention there and is now as good as new.
Jonathan enjoyed the tour, too, although it was a bit long for his taste.
There was a restaurant near our place that had on-site childcare. I am not kidding. It was attached to a health club, so I guess that's how they managed to provide childcare. How smart is that??? Jeff and I had an actual date,and enjoyed it completely. The food was very exotic for our tastes, and we do like lots of different things, but it was full of some unexpected flavors. Yay for date night! And the kids enjoyed their evening, too. (Note how long and neglected my nails are. This will make sense in a couple of pictures.)
Jonathan said that this was his favorite part of our vacation. There was a nearby nature center that offered classes for kids, and Jeff signed him up for a class for 4-6-year-olds about birds (raptors, eagles, etc.) It was out in the forest, and the kids got to watch a deer walk by as soon as we got there. Jonathan loooved his bird class, which mostly took place outdoors. We still hear about what he learned now and then. Above, you'll see evidence that his actually capable of coloring. He really must have enjoyed what he learned to pay that much attention to his picture!
While Jonathan enjoyed his class, Jeff dropped me off for some major spoiling time. I don't think I have ever done this many pampering-type things, especially all in one day. Jeff sent me for a massage, a manicure, and a pedicure. The gal cut my nails to a reasonable length and polished them, which hadn't happened in Grace's lifetime (the polish, I mean.) It was wonderful. While I relaxed, Jeff took Grace on a bike ride, went to get Jonathan, and then took care of both kids. I got soooo spoiled. It was amazing.
We discovered that Grace likes to color. Yay! She is not easy to keep occupied at a restaurant since she is generally very eager to eat. So, crayons help a lot.

And for those of you who don't read Etch-A-Sketch, Jonathan wants you to know that this is a map of Oregon. He drew it on our way out of Bend, which was a very fun and relaxing stretch of our vacation.

Bend
Our second destination was Bend. We stayed in a really nice place. After our first and more rustic accommodations, we felt so spoiled here. This place had a couch, and a kitchen with a dishwasher, and carpet, and two bedrooms, and not one but two bathrooms. One of those bathrooms was big enough, barely, for a pack 'n play, so it was Grace's bedroom. It was easier for Jeff and me to relax when our kids could spread out and wiggle a bit more when we were "home" for down time and meals. There was a TV, so we turned it on and watched the US win a game of soccer. We caught the spirit and got very excited. This place even had a pool, so Grace got to enjoy her first swim.

She loved the water-at least, the warm water. She wanted to crawl out of the raft and into the water, she liked it so much. Jonathan loves being in the water and has no fear of deep water, but still freaks out when his eyes get wet. Sigh.

Burney Falls
This wasn't one of our planned stops, but we decided to give it a try on our way between Lassen and Bend. We're so glad we did! It turned out to be a big favorite for all of us.
Jeff and I did a lot of hiking to waterfalls while we were dating, so it was really fun to do this hike together and with our kiddos.

Grace used to complain quite a bit in the backpack, but she has learned to love it. She loves being outside even more than Jonathan and almost as much as Jeff.
