Grace and I took B to the pediatrician for his 5-month checkup today. He is not as big as I feared...only 28", just like Jonathan was at this age, and he weighs 18 lbs, 14 oz. The doc said he's as big as a small one-year-old. 90th percentile for weight and off the charts for height. The funny thing was that they called him "long and lean." Ha! Our boy is not exactly lean, but he's just perfect as fas as I'm concerned. We are thankful for our happy boy, and so thankful he got the hang of gaining weight so quickly and so well. He and his big sister are keeping me hopping these days. I'm ready for school to be out so we're not running around quite so much!
Now, a transition to the grossness. One thing I've noticed about being a stay-at-home mom is that my job (which I am so thankful for, by the way) is that it involves lots of invisible things. I do lots of things that no one notices unless they don't get done, and I do lots of things that no one sees, and things that get undone almost immediately. So, when Jeff sees some of the invisible things I do, I'm glad. And hopefully he doesn't wonder what I do all day.
Cleaning up blowouts is one of those invisible tasks. I do it all the time, and the only effect of my cleanup that someone might notice is that the house is still a mess. So, this morning, when I was trying to get everyone out the door to get Jonathan to school and the rest of us to Benjamin's doctor appointment, my dear, happy, content baby, was happily playing...

EEWWWWWWW - I'm speechless, almost. One of those times you just want to take him outside and squirt him off with the hose, yes? Gotta love it. ;-)
Aw yes. Poop. I had no idea there would be so much of it!
And...Jack was 18lbs at 1 year. :-)
Love, Karyn
Oh man. This is hilarious, but only because I've been there... This is bringing to mind the time I didn't notice River's blowout, at the Iwa state fair, until it was running down the front of Gabe's shirt. That was a great moment.
This is just one of the fantastic things you do to keep your family running (no pun intended) smoothly! Yeah for Breast Milk!! I'll give you a "well done mom" I cleaned a mess up this morning similar and it was more up the back and not so much down the leg! Happy baby boys are fantastic! hugs shell
"ewww" just doesn't cut it...
